Commissioner for R&I, European Commission

Carlos Moedas has been Commissioner in charge of Research, Science and Innovation since 2014. Previously, he worked for Goldman Sachs in London, the Suez-Lyonnaise des Eaux group in France. He was also Managing Director and member of the Executive Board of Aguirre Newman in Spain and led his own investment company, Crimson Investment management. In 2011, he was made secretary of state to the prime minister of Portugal in charge of the Portuguese Adjustment Program. He holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and studied civil engineering at the Higher Technical Institute and École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées.
