Director, Energy Community Secretariat, Vienna

Janez Kopač has been Director of the Energy Community Secretariat since December 2012. The Energy Community is an international organization that brings together the EU and its neighbors to create an integrated pan-European energy market organized according to the EU’s internal energy market rules and principles. Before this Mr Kopač served as Slovenia’s director general for energy at the Ministry of Economy, as minister of the environment, spatial planning and energy, and as minister of finance, in addition to having been a member of the Slovenian parliament for ten years. Mr Kopač holds a master’s in economic science from the University of Ljubljana.
