Chief Scientific Advisor, DECC, UK

John Loughhead joined the Department of Energy and Climate Change in 2014 from the UK Energy Research Center, where he was executive director. Before, he was corporate vice-president of technology and intellectual property at Alstom’s head office in Paris. He has extensive international experience in both industry and academia.  Professor Loughhead is a chartered engineer and graduated in mechanical engineering from Imperial College, London. He is a past-president of the UK’s Institution of Engineering and Technology, fellow of both the UK and Australian national Academies of Engineering, Professor of Engineering at Cardiff University and fellow of Queen Mary University of London.
