Secretary General, Hydrogen Europe

Jorgo Chatzimarkakis is the first permanent Secretary General for the Hydrogen Europe Industry Grouping. Previously he was a member of staff with the personal office of Vice-Chancellor and Foreign Minister Klaus Kinkel. He also represented the German chip producer Infineon Technologies in Brussels and served as an MEP for 10 years. In 2007 he was elected MEP of the year for Research and Innovation by his colleagues. After serving in the EP he advised the Greek government in his role as ambassador-at-large. He studied political science, economic history and European law in Bonn and Oxford.
