Chair, Committee on Industry, Research and Energy, European Parliament

Jerzy Buzek is an MEP and Chair of the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy. He has been a member of the European Parliament since 2004, and was president of the European Parliament between 2009 and 2012. Mr Buzek was prime minister of Poland between 1997 and 2001. He holds a degree in chemical engineering and was a researcher at the Chemical Engineering Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences. He later became prorector of Akademia Polonijna in Częstochowa and professor at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Opole University of Technology in Opole.
